It's about that time, for another post. Happy Easter everybody. Still truckin' here in Austin. Wish I could have been with my family today. I went to a great service this morning at Riverbend Church. The music there is just amazing and the sermon was good too, about 1 Corintians 1. My kitties are sitting here with me now, surprising that they are both on the same couch during the day, just napping. Normally one is in the closet or under the bed or something. Guess they are really starting to come around. Bette Davis (the little one) really likes me now and always comes to me when I am home and she's become really friendly. Daisy (the orange one) doesn't like me as much, except when the food dish is empty. She's still nice though and lets me pet her. I bet that eventually we will seem like a family.
This week though, there were two incidents of bad cats in the middle of the night. Tuesday, I woke up to find a broken glass jar all over the steps that previously held sand and shells from a beach I went to...what a mess! Wednesday, I woke up to find my flip flops with many many teeth marks in them. Tally used to chew flip flops all the time, so I knew to put them up high where she couldn't get them every time I took them off. These cats never seemed to go near them, so I didn't think it would be a problem. Well, I left them out and of course the next morning they were all chewed up. :-( I thought my days of ruined flip flops were gone! At least now I have an excuse to shop for new ones!
In sad news, I just read that Dr. Shriver passed away last night. He was former President of Miami University and a wonderful guy! I'd met him several times, I worked with his daughter for a long time at Miami and his son was our announcer, so I worked with him at all of our home events. I feel sad for their family! They were all really close. He will be missed along with all his Miami history stories that he told.

Pilates
I just did a pilates video for the first time in a LONG time. Hopefully I can do it more than once! And, my friend just gave me the newest Lifehouse CD for my birthday. I don't know how I put off getting it for so long...it was out in the fall. I'm going to be rocking out to that until I learn the whole thing!

New Post
There's not much for me to say, but figured I'll write something for my standard once a month post. Ha. I did get a couch, finally decided on one. It's way too big for my apartment, but it's nice to have a plethora of places to sit. I wish it was a little more cushy, but it's the best in that style that I could afford. I've been hitting the job search a lot harder lately, but still haven't heard much. I just really want to work in an office and a full time job would be really nice. It's hard not to be discouraged, but I've been watching some movies and playing spades online to keep from dwelling on things. It's been pretty stressful though since my main job is so far behind on paying me. I've already had to resort to tapping into my savings account. I just have to believe that there is something out there and keep applying.
I got two new kitties and they are pretty much worthless. Having them makes me miss Tally even more b/c she was a good cat, aside from her obvious problems. She laid on my lap, slept with me, talked to me, needed me and just loved me in general. These cats have been with me a month and still aren't warmed up. For a long time they were just called, the Fat One and the Little One, or the Orange One and the Dark One. The previous owner gave them dumb names (my opinion of course) so I waited awhile to name them. The Little One still doesn't have a name b/c she's been a bitch and rarely comes out of the closet. Miracle today though! She let me pet her and pick her up!!! This is definitely a first. Most of the time when I see her or talk to her she just stares and acts like I'm going to kill her. If only she knew I just wanted to pet her! Today was huge though....maybe she'll come around eventually. She might even be partially blind. Her pupils are almost always fully dilated, so maybe she only sees some movement. That would explain why she's so scared in a new environment, I guess. The Big One, now named Daisy has been more friendly and asks for pets even though she spends most of her time under the bed or in the closet. She talks a lot too, or I should say quacks b/c she sounds like a duck. That's how I named her, Daisy for Daisy Duck. At first it was going to be Daffy Duck until my mom pointed out that Daffy is a boy and the whole point of renaming these cats is for them to actually have gender appropriate names this time around. Some people may think it's wrong to rename eight year old cats, but do they really know their names anyway? If they did, they should be glad to get new ones! I just really wish that they were more cuddly and cared when I got home from work or watched TV with me or something. That's what cats are for! Hopefully I didn't get a couple of bad seeds. Ugh. They are pretty cute, but they just don't feel like mine yet...I suppose we'll get there eventually.

New Year
Terri made me aware that I need to post something. So I will.
It's hard to believe that the holidays are over already. I hope everyone had a nice one and received my belated cards. I was lucky to get them out at all! I had a nice visit with family at Christmas and now trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm trying to get all my carpet cleaned in my apartment and get some real furniture so that it's more homey and my new kitties will have a nice place to live. Everything is tore apart right now and it's kind of stressing me out. Everything is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. I've been looking for couches mostly on craig's list and NO ONE IS RESPONDING! It's frustrating. If you post something...at least have the decency to respond that it's sold or something, just RESPOND! There are some deals on brand new couches too, so maybe I'll go that route. In the meantime, I'm just working away at my three little piddly jobs, UT Box Office, Macy's and InVader Sportswear. Nothing is enough to survive on, but all combined together, I'm scraping by for now. Maybe 2011 will bring me some sort of fortune. I don't mean it has to be financial fortune, just maybe that one area of my life will fall into place. Heck, I'd be happy if I just get my apartment looking the way I want it in the near future!
Later.

Tally
I miss my kitty so much. I had to make a VERY difficult decision to give Tally away. I feel bad about it, but with the circumstances, I didn't feel like I had another choice. She was having lots of accidents and not using her litter box. After months of thought, I couldn't let her continue to make a mess of my apartment and not having another place to live, I let her go. The first few days were extremely hard and now that it's been almost a month, I still find myself wanting to talk to her and snuggle. It's so weird not having anyone around normally and it's especially hard now that I'm having a hard time and feeling alone as it is. I'm still trying to clean up all her messes and it's going to take a long time. I decided I'm not going to put my tree up this year and just concentrate on cleaning the carpets. I did put out my nativity and a few other decorations as well as switched to my Christmas dishes. I feel extremely guilty and miss Tally so much. She was like my kid for so long and I just turned my back on her when I felt I didn't have anything else to do. Guess I won't make a good mom ever if I just give my kids away. Good thing I don't have any human kids! I'm already looking into getting a new cat, but not until everything is cleaned up and my apartment is in better condition. I watched a few cats over Thanksgiving, so it was nice being around some felines. I called about volunteering at a cat shelter, but I haven't heard anything back about times to volunteer. I thought maybe giving back to other cats would make me feel less guilty about Tally. This is really difficult for me to talk about, but I thought maybe I should just share. Maybe getting it out there will help me deal with it a little more. Just trying to get through each day at this point! I miss her so much!
